BONUS MATHS
Wagering requirements, explained in one number
The headline bonus amount tells you very little. The wagering multiple tells you almost everything — it is how much you need to bet before bonus money becomes cash you can withdraw.
The formula
Bonus × wagering multiple = turnover needed. A $20 bonus at 20× means $400 of bets. At $1 a spin, that is 400 spins.
Worked examples
| BONUS | WAGERING | TURNOVER NEEDED | SPINS AT $1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $20 | 20× | $400 | 400 |
| $20 | 35× | $700 | 700 |
| $50 | 40× | $2,000 | 2,000 |
| $100 | 50× | $5,000 | 5,000 |
What counts as good
- Under 25× — worth claiming.
- 25× to 40× — only worth it if you were going to play anyway.
- Over 40× — rarely pays for the time involved.
FAIRDINKUM PLAY9 runs the lowest wagering in the group, from 20×. Read the FAIRDINKUM PLAY9 review.
Three things that quietly change the maths
- Game weighting — pokies usually count 100%, table games often much less.
- Maximum bet while wagering — going over it can void the bonus.
- Expiry — unfinished wagering is lost when the offer window closes.
